The White Road Hike is certainly a great adventure on the Big Island, and without doubt I will schedule time for it on each future I make to Hawaii. However, If we don’t respect the land and the people by treading lightly it won’t be there for us to enjoy. Waipio is a sacred place for the Hawaiians so we need to be certain not to leave trash. The island is Big, but it isn’t so big that we don’t need to be cautious stewards. If you see someone else’s trash, pack it out for them. If you see people running around off the trails kindly ask them to hike with courtesy. Have fun but have respect.
About how long does it take to do the whole trip?

Whole thing can be done in a couple of hours but I always want to take my time when I go. I usually make plans for several hours when I go.
